Vermont Hills Family Life Center - We Need Your Help

October 26, 2009

Dear Parents and Friends,

Vermont Hills Family Life Center is a nonprofit corporation: this means 85 percent of our funds goes directly to staff and scholarships. We serve over 1,000 children in the Beaverton, Hillsboro, Banks, Forest Grove, and Portland area.

This year subsidies will be over $133,000. In the course of our 30 years in business we have given more than $2 million to families in need through our scholarship fund. We make quality childcare possible for single parents, minimum wage earners, and parents returning to school while still working.

We are committed to caring for these children - providing safe, healthy preschool and after school care. But, we cannot do it alone anymore. We need your help!

VHFLC has never asked for assistance before, but the times warrant the need to ask. We are all tightening our belts, but I do not want to stop providing help to parents who desperately need our assistance.

Studies have shown that children with a stable quality after school program will do better academically as well as being able to make good moral choices. They also state that school age children home alone between the hours of 3-6:00 p.m. will be more likely to engage in dangerous activities - drugs, sex and crimes. This is not a scare tactic. This is reality.

At Vermont Hills Family Life Center we are committed to all children, regardless of income.

Please consider giving even as little as $3 to $10 dollars per month or a one time donation. Help us continue to scholarship children and families in need.

As a non profit 501 (c) (3) corporation we will send you a tax receipt for your generous donation. No donation is too small. You can make a one time donation or a small monthly contribution by going to our web site or simply filling out and mailing the attached form.

"I'm writing to first of all thank you for the amazing opportunity that you have given my two daughters last year by providing a scholarship for them to attend VHFLC. I can't express how thankful I am for offering my children the opportunity to grow." - Maria

"As always, I am thankful for the opportunity to participate in a program that allows us, me to improve our quality of life and keep peace of mind with regard to the safety and well being of my child." - Michael (School Age Parent)

"We inspire the promise of tomorrow!"

Most Sincerely,

Brenda Dengo
